Innsbruck – From one moment to the next, Barbara Kößler’s life changed: the social pedagogue worked for years as an assistant for people with disabilities. Suddenly she needs help herself. In the new episode of “LICHTblicke & Wegweiser”, the 38-year-old tells her host Marianne Hengl how she survived the difficult hours, what gave her hope and how she copes with her new everyday life.
At the end of July 2020, Barbara Kößler was involved in a serious traffic accident. “In August I came to in the intensive care unit in Innsbruck and in the weeks and months that followed I confirmed that I myself am now severely disabled and highly dependent on support.”
Almost three months after her accident, she could then begin her rehab in Bad Häring. There she went, as she herself says, through a “hard but necessary school”. “One of my greatest bright spots in these difficult times: I can quickly raise my hand to my mouth again by myself.”
