The European Senior Team Chess Championship is held in Prague

Councilor m of Prague approved an individual non-investment earmarked subsidy in the amount of 120 thousand crowns for the holding of the European Championship of senior teams in chess.
The event was historically recorded in the Czech Republic for the first time, specifically in the period from August 29 to September 8, 2021 in the Don Giovanni Hotel in Prague.
“Chess enthusiasts have come to terms with this event. They could challenge a game of chess legend and take part in an international tournament. A total of fifteen of the Czech teams appeared on the starting list, of which the national team of the Czech Republic even won in the over-50s category. Support for sports and sporting events is very important for both racers and fans, who often lose this spectacle due to the ongoing pandemic, “said the councilor. m of Prague for sports Vít Šimral.
The tournaments are watched in two age categories 50+ and 65+, both in teams and individuals, with the teams in the women’s category being evaluated separately. A record 31 teams from 10 federations met at the start. The national team of the Czech Republic won in the category over 50 years.
The home team drew in an important match of the tournament with Slovakia, which took home silver medals. The Czech Republic Women’s team also secured the second gold medal at home. The category over 65 years was dominated by the Israeli team, bronze traveled to France. Both tournaments are included in the ELO FIDE world rankings.
