Toulouse: Laure Alonso creates “The adventure trunk” to spice up the lives of seniors
Inspired and instructive ideas, walks and unusual activities, this is what the boxes of the Adventure Box designed by Toulouse Laure Alonso contain, intended for seniors.
Sensing fear of free time or a feeling of uselessness in a member of her family whose retirement hour was fast approaching, Laure Alonso had the idea of making an advent calendar for her on – measure. “It was December, so I developed a retirement almanac, with an envelope for each month to open with ideas for activities inside, to build a new rhythm of life”, announces Laure. Alonso.
Speaking of her initiative around her, the young entrepreneur sent that there is a real demand. “Also, 6 months later, during my maternity leave, I explored this concept for young retirees,” resumes Laure.
With this time for reflection, his prototype retirement calendar will give birth to “La Malle d’Aventure”.
Since its creation in 2020, four boxes have been designed within this framework. On sale at the start of each term, their content is intended to strengthen intellectual stimulation, physical activity and social ties for seniors. For this, each box includes a discovery section around an inspiring personality, a region of France and an activity, “knowing that the three are precisely linked”, Laure. The first box was dedicated to Stevenson and the Cévennes. The second evoked Olympe de Gouges, in homage to the Montalbanian origins of the designer. The third featured Lyon gastronomic chef Eugénie Brazier. Finally, the fourth, available for the end of year celebrations, follows in the footsteps of the famous gardener André Le Nôtre. The latter includes a 28-page notebook which portrays this “architect of nature”, micro-adventures in the country of Fontainebleau, a discovery sheet of peppermint from Milly-la-Forêt as well as a recipe, a practical guide to shared gardens… In short, something to learn.
Already nearly 1000 boxes sold
The subscription for a quarter to a box costs 27 €, and 99 € per year, “knowing that between boxes, we receive letters to extend the experience,” says Laure. There is also the adventure pack at 400 €.
At 37, this adopted Toulouse native, an engineer by training and mother of two young children, chose to leave her consulting position in a large company to devote herself entirely to an eponymous start-up. “It feels good to feel that you are useful for something,” she admits. In one year, she sold nearly 1,000 boxes. All are available individually on the website. A great gift idea as Christmas approaches!
