Prague Hospital: Missing 300 paramedics, challenged practitioners
According to Mayor Zdeněk Hřiby, there are currently about 300 paramedics in Prague hospitals, ie about 150 doctors and 150 nurses. The municipality is therefore looking for a way to make it easier for hospitals in a critical situation. Both general practitioners and outpatients, as well as volunteers and the military, should help. “During the week, we sent a letter to general practitioners and outpatients, asking if they would be willing to help in the emergency room or in the vaccination centers, so far, 23 volunteers have signed up for the vaccination centers“Mushroom said.”
Greater involvement of practitioners
“I would also like to ask the general practitioner to take part in the vaccination of the third dose as much as possible. If your GP refuses to vaccinate you or, for example, the immobile people you care for and find it difficult to visit the vaccine center, I recommend contacting your health insurance companyThe mayor added.
“I would like to ask a general practitioner and an outpatient doctor, to work over the Christmas holidays to make hospital emergency work as easy as possible and also the rescue service. In this way, people will be able to turn to them with normal difficulties and will not have to use the emergency room, “said Councilor for Social Affairs Milena Johnová (Prague to Herself).
The Czech Red Cross also helps
Volunteers from the Czech Red Cross (ČČK) also help out in congested hospitals, and all Prague hospitals have asked for their help. Red Cross just like last year organizes courses for non-medical volunteerswhich are free and graduates can then assist in caring for patients. “The course lasts one day and the graduates will learn how to take care of the patient, how to ensure his hygiene, as well as how to operate a hospital bed and how to protect the bedridden,” explained Richard Smejkal, commander of the CRC Central Crisis Team.
“These volunteers work under the supervision of experienced nurses, whobut then they don’t have to do strenuous nursing work, for example, handling patients and saving you strength, “added Martin Havrda, head of the internal clinic at the Royal Vinohrady University Hospital.
