Russia ranked first in terms of tourist flow to Phuket
02.12.2021
At the end of November, for the first time in history, Russia is the leader in the number of tourists arriving in Phuket, the main resort in Thailand. It is not worth it to be the first to send about 0.5-0.7 million tourists to Phuket a year, given the current severe restrictions on entry, the monthly tourist flow from Russia amounted to only 5,162 people.
The Russian Consulate General in Phuket has shared the latest statistics from the Immigration Office of Phuket Province.
According to this, according to the new rules for entering Thailand from November 1 to 30 this year. 37,278 foreigners arrived on the island of Phuket, including 24,973 people under Test & Go programs (Russia not included), 12,163 people in Sandbox (Russia included), and 142 people in Alternative Quarantine (Russia included).
The five leaders in terms of the number of tourists arriving in Phuket included the following countries:
- Russia – 5,162 people;
- Germany – 4,972 people;
- Great Britain – 3,061 people;
- USA – 2,214 people;
- Israel – 2,080 people.
Thus, Russia is the last time in the lead in terms of tourist flow to Thailand. This, however, should not give rise to illusions: there are still very few of them. Note that in pre-dock times, about 0.5-07 million Russians traveled to Phuket in different years, this is 40-60 thousand per month.
Earlier, tourists from China (which is now closed), as well as from other Asian countries, were in the lead in the structure of tourist traffic to Phuket. Along with covid restrictions on the popular Thai resort. The former mass tourist flow and its leaders did not become, only against this background Russia took first place, sending 8-12 fewer tourists in November than in the average year before the pandemic.
Recall that since December 16, the rules of entry to Phuket under the “sandbox” program, which is now used by the majority of Russians, are in the direction of easing restrictions. You can read more about these indulgences in this review.
THERE WILL BE 10 FLIGHTS PER WEEK TO PHUKET FROM RUSSIA
According to the Russian Consulate General in Phuket, since the second half of December, Aeroflot will receive an additional flight from Moscow to Phuket.
In turn, S7 added to the winter schedule one flight to Phuket per week from Vladivostok, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk, and also launched a new regular flight from Ulan-Ude on the island.
Thus, the total number of Russian carriers to Phuket will increase to 10 per week. This, of course, is still not enough. Before the pandemic, Phuket International Airport received 1,700-1900 aircraft from Russia per year (on average, 36 per week per year, in winter – about 70-80 per week).
