The embassy in the Netherlands condemned the act of vandalism at the Russian military memorial complex “Soviet Field of Glory” near the city of Amersfoort. This was stated by the press secretary of the diplomatic mission Irina Gridina, transfers TASS.
In particular, over the weekend, unknown persons there painted graffiti with nationalist slogans and references to Ukrainian nationalists.
“We consider this action absolutely blasphemous, especially against the background of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, celebrated this year,” – Gridina. She added that the embassy and the management of the memorial foundation have already turned to local law enforcement agencies for an objective investigation.
The remains of 865 Soviet soldiers who died in the Netherlands and neighboring countries during World War II are buried in the “Soviet Field of Glory”. The complex was opened in 1948.
Previously “Gazeta.Ru” conveyed Foreign Ministry Speaker Maria Zakharova said that the Polish authorities should restore the cemetery of Soviet soldiers in the city of Zambrow and punish those who desecrated the local memorial.
