Russia expects further development and deepening of cooperation with the UAE – Politics
MOSCOW, November 29. / TASS /. Russia would like to see relations between Moscow and Abu Dhabi deepen and develop in an ascending order. This statement was announced on Monday by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Pankin at a gala reception to mark the 50th anniversary of the formation of the UAE and the 50th anniversary of the solemn communication between the United Arab Emirates and the Russian Federation.
“I wish we could visit each other more,” Pankin said.
According to him, 50 years is a serious period for testing the relations of one state with others, but 50 years is “an insignificant period for the long future path of such a state as the UAE.” “The United Arab Emirates came with a huge technological, economic and cultural baggage. Development is impressive, development is stunning,” he added.
Pankin, that over the years, respect, mutual understanding, and close cooperation, which rises higher and higher, have always prevailed in relations between the two countries. The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that the very warm and close relations between the leaderships of the two countries, the rich fabric of relations between business circles and departments in various fields, are a solid foundation for Moscow’s cooperation.
“We can only rejoice at how the United Arab Emirates are showing the brightest examples in technological and modernization plans,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said. He recalled that the UAE is a favorite destination for Russian tourists.
Diplomatic relations were established between the USSR and the UAE on December 8, 1971. In 1986 the embassy of the USSR was opened in Abu Dhabi, in 1987 the embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Moscow. In December 1991, the UAE recognized the Russian Federation as the legal successor to the USSR.
