Russia and China held over 30 events to combat coronavirus in cooperation in the field of science and innovation
The closing ceremony of the Russian-Chinese scientific, technical and innovative cooperation was held via videoconference. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko addressed the participants with a welcoming message from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. From the Chinese side, the Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China Sun Chunlan made an opening speech, who read out a greeting message from the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.
2020 and 2021 were announced in the countries of the world of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of technology and innovation. The fight against the pandemic has become one of the pressing issues due to the fact that today scientists all over the world have a single global task – to make a breakthrough in the development of safe and effective means of preventing and treating COVID-19. For two years, Russia and China have been actively exchanging experience in controlling the pandemic, as well as in research and research on vaccines against the new coronavirus infection and holding 30 joint events to combat coronavirus and its consequences, including the Russian-Chinese conference on medical microbiology, immunology and pharmacology “COVID-19 and coinfection” and the Russian-Chinese video forum on the current state of the COVID-19 epidemic in the regions of both countries.
Significant events of the two-year cooperation were the joint development and signing of the Roadmap for Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation, the People’s Republic of China in the NIKA project. As part of the Russian implementation of the plan, about 800 events were held, in which about 200 Russian universities and research organizations from almost all regions of the Russian Federation took part.
Summing up the results, the Russian and Chinese sides noted the need to intensify the work on the implementation of joint scientific projects, in particular, in the field of biotechnology and biosafety, which will be of practical benefit to the population of Russia and China.
