A week ago, Senánszky broke the national peak of Hosszú Katinka in the 50-meter freestyle in the Hungarian Short Track Championship, then improved the record by 24.30 seconds in the final.
He stressed that he still has a lot left in this term and will work to get out of the 2024 Paris Olympics from the second half of 2022.
The Hungarian team traveling to the Winter Universiade also took an oath during the gala. The text of the vow was said by Albert Viktória, a member of the short-track speed skating team and a student at the Budapest University of Economics. The Universiade will take place from 11 to 21 December in Lucerne, Switzerland, and the Hungarian colors will be represented by six competitors, five short trackers and a snowboarder.
Tünde Szabó, Secretary of State for Sport, emphasized in a video message that the most important thing is to be able to hold the gala again, because he missed it last year due to the coronavirus epidemic.
“Today’s elite sport is facing more and more serious challenges, but it is gratifying that many of the classics who have decided to study sports at university and college are under double load,” continued Tünde Szabó. He added that the athlete is a student ideal, an embodiment of the unity of body and mind. The government gives priority to supporting higher education sports.
“The gala will celebrate those who have a place in higher education and have reached the top in sports as well,” the secretary of state said.
