Military career for more and more women in the Republic of Moldova – News by sources
They broke stereotypes and proved that it is possible. We are talking about women who have chosen to pursue a career in the military and to be on guard in the country.
Platoon commanders, heads of military centers or various departments – just a few of the positions held by women who do military service and who provide over 20 percent of the total number of the National Army. Some military women choose to go on missions abroad as military peacekeepers, according to the Moldovan press.
Major Tatiana Sîrghi participated in peacekeeping missions in South Sudan three years ago. He was a military observer for more than a year in an area where instability is dictated by civil wars.
She risked her own life only to help the locals and understood that her role is essential among the male soldiers, because only she managed to bring peace to the homes of women with children.
“My mission was to gather information from those areas and the conflicts they face. Women were more open to us, because for them, worn by the military, camouflage was a fear and they did not even come close, but when they were women among military observers, they were more open to us and could express their suffering problems and facing “, said Tatiana Sîrghi, head of the Cooperation and International Programs Service.
Returning home, Tatiana continues to work at the Military Academy and follow her dream. In the future, he intends to go on other peacekeeping missions. It wants to be useful where peace is thwarted by civil strife.
“It is an important thing to go to other countries, where there are problems related to society, where children, women, mothers who are helpless are involved,” Tatiana added.
Currently, more than 200 students study at the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun”, of which almost 50 are girls.
“Once admitted to school, girls and boys have many opportunities. The statute offers absolutely free equipment, full studies. On students, students have the opportunity to learn foreign languages such as English, French, German. Also, they receive a driving license B, C ”, mentioned Anatolie Bucuci, the rector of the Military Academy.
Since 2014, it has been possible to admit girls to the institution. The current graduates of the promotions claim that they want a career in the military field.
“I like the discipline, I know that in the Military Academy I can get higher education. The Military Academy does not offer the possibility to develop both physically and spiritually. I want to have the military psychological and moral qualities, to create a career “, said Alevtina Mardari, student.
“The military profession was chosen at random. This was dictated by my character, it attracted me from school. These include everything: love of country, discipline and initiative, patience and fairness “, mentioned Carolina Spînu, student.
According to official data, over the last 14 years, 13 military women have been active as observers in missions under the auspices of the UN and the OSCE.
The peacekeepers went to Georgia, Ukraine, Ivory Coast, Liberia, South Sudan and the Central African Republic. In the last two regions and currently two military are on a mission.
