At the appointment wanted by the United Nations, the port of Gioia Tauro and the tent city will also be discussed
Eighteen groups gathered at the same time throughout Europe, in view of the conference in Vienna, and among these also the laboratory of San Ferdinando which adheres to the network of local development bodies. The appointment wanted by the UN for 2022, in application of the 2020-2030 agenda on the environmental and social sustainability of local government policies, also mobilizes Calabria and, in the small center of the port area of Gioia Tauro, the works lasted 3 days and coordinated by project manager Simona Lombardo they detailed the contribution that will be presented in the Austrian capital.
«The approach that we continue to propose – explained Luca Gaetano, municipal councilor and animator of the local laboratory – foresees a change in the perspective with which the younger generations look to the problems and excellence of this area. On the one hand the port, once again the first Italian container terminal, on the other the migrant population, signal the amplification of job opportunities that are offered, but in the paradigm that serves to interrupt the emigration of young people we aim to present a proposal that wants to push the institutions to unite decent work and economic growth“.
The San Ferdinand laboratory, which has already explained in the University of Kossowo the good practices that have been launched in the town in environmental matters – for example with Ecowalking, which combines sporting practices and care for the ecology of public places, and the Snuffty cigarette butts recycling project – opened to contributions from Francesco White, animator of the Nicotera Hospitality Festival, by Emilio Salvatore Leo, mangaer of the homonymous wool mill, Rosamaria Lojacono by LaCasetta room & garden, and by the writer Nino prince.
