South Moravians are paying for sweets this year. Often up to eighty crowns
Fragrant walnut rolls, traditional Liners or bear claws. Tomáš Kavalír from Vyškov is not worried about preparing his favorite Christmas delicacy. He orders sweets from professionals every year. “I order from a lady from Dřevnovice and I am very satisfied. Firstly, it has quality butter cookies and no artificial substitutes, secondly, it offers it at a favorable price, ”the man explained.
Kavalír pays around four hundred crowns per kilo for a sweet treat. However, rising prices for the necessary raw materials have forced many producers to rise in price this year. Unlike last year, people in some cases pay fifty to eighty crowns more for a kilo of candy. “It simply came to our notice then. Every year I bake about eighty kilos of various kinds to order. In order for the production to pay off for me at least a little, I had to raise prices, “admitted Eva Kristková from Oslavan in the Brno region, for example.
It recorded an increasing demand at the beginning of the autumn, it is not currently accepting new orders. “I bake mainly for the family and loved ones. If someone wanted candy from me, they calmly agreed three months in advance, “Kristková pointed out.
However, higher raw material prices should not discourage customers from buying custom candy. According to economist Petr Pelc, this is an item beyond the usual family budget. “Households that could not afford the purchased sweets before will not order delicacies this year either. On the other hand, families who bought sweets regularly will not miss it, even if they have to pay extra for it, “Pelc said.
After previous experience, Zuzana Olejníková gave her own home baking. “I tried to order. Although it was great, I missed the pre-Christmas preparation and the smell of the house. And not only to me, the children were deprived of tasting, sipping, dipping in sugar and eating. Not like this again, they would rather help, “the woman mentioned.
