Marcel van Wersch made COO at Amsterdam Data Collective
Amsterdam Data Collective has Marcel van Wersch as its new Chief Operations Officer.
Marcel van Wersch comes from Solid Professionals, a finance & risk consultancy in Utrecht, where he was above partner and Chief Operation Officer and has played an important role in the growth of the company in recent years. At Amsterdam Data Collective, which was founded in 2017, Van Wersch has now been given a task.
“Of course I have followed Amsterdam Data Collective closely in recent years,” says Van Wersch. He refers to the two deals closed at the end of 2019 between Solid Professionals and Amsterdam Data Collective – when Solid Professionals shareholders took a minority stake in Amsterdam Data Collective, which in turn took over Solid Professionals’ AI practice
“From a distance I was always enthusiastic about the motivation and drive of the people of Amsterdam Data Collective, about the impact the agency makes with its clients and about the unique culture that has records in such a short time. I look forward to helping the company move into its next growth phase.”
Those next phases consist of two pillars. Today, Amsterdam Data Collective has a team of fifty professionals, helping advanced data scientists and technology companies at the intersection of data science and advanced analytics. In the Netherlands, Amsterdam Data Collective wants to expand its position in the market and involve international expansion in its plans.
Last week, Director Rik van der Woerdt of Amsterdam Data Collective announced that the consultancy had started in Denmark. Van Wersch’s guardian Govert van Koningsveld is in charge of the company’s international ambitions.
“After focusing on Amsterdam Data Collective’s activities for almost two years, I am now looking forward to focusing on our international expansion,” says Van Koningsveld.
Van der Woerdt concludes: “Because data science will touch every part of our lives, there are plenty of opportunities for expansion. We choose those areas where data science and our teams can have the greatest impact.”
