The missions of the Guardian Angels of Monaco intensified with the health crisis
Every Monday evening, from the port district in Nice, the same ritual takes place. Around the van of the Guardian Angels of Monaco, the ballet of volunteers of the association with a big heart for 13 years by Bruna Maule Cassio deploys its forces of generosity and mutual aid. They take out the tables, the coolers and the pots. They are expected as messiahs.
Around them, women and children, men, young and old. The unemployed, those with nothing or not much, the homeless, the hopeless. People in extreme poverty and all hungry.
If the full and hot plate is warmly comforting in this life on the street, the kind words of these volunteers are just as much: they are simple words, a touch of humanity in ordinary misery.
In Monaco, thanks to the unfailing mobilization of Bruna Maule Cassio, the Guardian Angels rally around them a united team and loyal establishments of the Principality. “We are supported by a hard core of people from the Principality who contribute financially to our cause. Without them, nothing would be possible, insists the president. For the marauding that we organize every Monday evening in Nice, we are also helped by renowned establishments in Monaco which cook for our beneficiaries in Nice or we provide fruit, sleeping bags and basic necessities. At last, adds Bruna Maule Cassio, there are all the volunteers, about fifteen, who when they can be there for others. It is thanks to all of this that every Monday evening we can feed nearly 300 people in the streets of Nice. “
“It’s a massacre!”
Besides the marauding that they organize every Monday evening, the Guardian Angels also financially help many families to pay their rent, electricity bills or medical expenses.
“The health crisis that we have just gone through has further pushed entire families into need. Employees who have lost their jobs and have not found any, it’s a hecatomb, Bruna Maule Cassio alert.
“We need help”
The files of aid requests keep arriving at the office, we have between 2 and 3 requests per day, and this 7 days a week. In October, we paid nearly 6,000 euros in rent and bags. sleeping arrangements to save families from Beausoleil and Nice from the streets. So more than ever we need help to carry out these missions. We cannot ignore this reality… ”
