Beijing 2022: the Hungarian women’s hockey team lags behind the Olympics

Chomutov – The Hungarian women’s hockey team was knocked out 5-1 by the host Czech team on Sunday in the Chomutov Olympic qualifiers, so they did not make it to the Beijing Games.

The Czech national team winner from Chomutov will be able to take part in the Beijing Winter Olympics in February. The Hungarian women’s national team has never won five-ring games, and the men’s have only won three times (1928: 11th place, 1936: 7th place, 1964: 16th place).

The bad series did not end: despite the fact that the Hungarian national team gained a human advantage and brought the puck in the offensive third, Vendula Pribylova stepped out and did not make a mistake.

The scenario was similar in the second third: the Czechs controlled the game, the Hungarians rarely had any situations. In the 28th minute, from a lightning-fast action, the Czechs made two passes in front of the guest goal and Samantha Ahn Kolowratova raised Anhó Németh into the net over her shoulder.

The Czech national team defended almost flawlessly, kept its advantage well, and when he once again got a human advantage in his hair, Denisa Krizova took advantage of the fact that the defenders could not free her.

At the end of the 58th minute, Alexandra Huszák went around the goal and pulled the pack into the short corner, so he managed to beautify it.

Women’s hockey has been on the Olympics since 1998, with the Hungarians – who were able to play in the elite world championship for the first time and finished in ninth place – never making it to the games, but now they were the closest to a single victory.
