Prague Airport, as one of the few airports in the world, is once again preparing to launch another round of Ventilation Program for the municipalities most affected by air traffic noise in 2022. It thus strengthens the already implemented anti-noise measures in the form of window replacement. The program will focus on selected municipalities in the Noise Protection Zone, which are most affected by air traffic noise.
Specifically, residents of Dobrovíz, Horoměřice, Jenče, Kněževes, Přední Kopanina will be able to use the program. Within its framework, the inhabitants of these municipalities can receive a contribution for the management and installation of ventilation equipment. “The aim is to reduce noise and improve indoor air quality in school buildings, family houses and apartments in the most polluted areas. Residents of selected municipalities have the opportunity to apply for a contribution to the management and installation of ventilation equipment that will ensure continuous air exchange in closed rooms, “says Jiří Kraus, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport.
In the first and second calls in the years 2020/2021, Prague Airport approved over 100 applications for apartments and family houses with a total value of 22 million crowns. Furthermore, they were ventilated by four primary schools in the amount of almost 14 million crowns. The program was appreciated, for example, by the inhabitants of the village of Horoměřice. According to them, it helps reduce the impact of noise pollution. In connection with the previous measure, anti-noise windows, to improve life in our village, which is affected not only by noise from air traffic, but also by heavy car traffic. We assume that the next round will be widely used, “says the deputy mayor Ivan Král.
In addition, the installation of a ventilation system will save applicants on heating. The ventilation units use recuperation – ie preheating of the supplied air. Fresh air is supplied with minimal energy loss. Thanks to the efficient filtration of class F5 / G4, the airport requires suppliers to ensure the penetration of dust, moisture, allergens and mold, and thus increase the comfort of staying in the room.

Prague Airport approaches this issue in accordance with the noise strategy of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which is based on the concept of the so-called balanced approach to noise regulation. The ventilation program builds on the technical program of anti-noise measures implemented in the past, consisting in the replacement of windows of residential and family houses, buildings intended for education, health and social purposes in the noise protection zone of the airport.
Prague Airport will also prepare several meetings for those interested, during which a presentation of the entire project and its conditions will take place. The airport will inform you in advance about the date of the meeting.
