The government has ordered respirators for students, the University of Brno already requires | Health News Brněnská Drbna
The government’s decision to wear respirators for university students during classes will not bring any change at large Brno universities; they have been requiring respiratory protection for some time. “We have encouraged students to do so since the beginning of the semester, it has been mandatory since the end of October, and this measure also applies to teachers,” said Danuše Nerudová, the rector of Mendel University, today.
Respirators have been mandatory at Masaryk University since the beginning of November, as decided by the crisis staff with the crisis committee at the end of October. The Technical University (BUT) also introduced the obligation to wear respirators for everyone inside the buildings before today’s tightening of the measure. “The only exceptions are vaccinated lecturers during teaching, “ she stated Tereza Kadrnožková from the BUT press department.
The number of sick academics and students is gradually increasing in technology, and the situation is copying the overall development of the pandemic. At Mendel University, the situation is relatively calm. “As for infected students or teachers, we do not record any significant drop in students in lectures. It appears that wearing respirators in all indoor areas and in all situations is appropriate to limit the spread of the virus. “ Nerudová added.
According to Kadrnožková, BUT cannot yet switch to an online form of teaching, although this option would be welcomed mainly by lectures with a large audience. The Ministry of Education (MEYS) has not issued the necessary decision, which would still achieve distance learning. The school does not even have such a recommendation of the regional hygienic station.
“It is important for us that contact teaching in laboratories or studios can continue, which cannot be fully replaced by online broadcasts and self-study. If the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports decides on the possibility of distance learning, BUT is ready to switch to the online form of large lectures after the experience of the past year. “ added Kadrnožková.
Today, the government has decided that university students will have to wear respirators as part of their teaching from 15 November. An extraordinary measure will apply in classrooms where at least 50 students meet. Currently, university students are required to wear respirators indoors if they are not seated.
