Winter in Antwerp until further notice with Christmas market and ice rink – Citytrips – Reizen
From Saturday 4 December to Sunday 9 January, the historic center of Antwerp will be open again Winter in Antwerp planned.
As is customary, the city festival features a Christmas market and an ice rink, as well as several winter bars, a Ferris wheel and activities such as a museum nocturne, stargazing, a viewing game and ‘musical surprises’.
In, for example, up to Lier, Antwerp will therefore continue with its Christmas market and other crowd pullers until further notice, despite the corona. From Antwerp Central station, a string of lights will lead visitors to the event site in the historic center.
As always, you will find an ice rink on the Groenplaats and the adjacent winter bar Den Après. At Steenplein there is the Ferris wheel, where you can also enjoy ‘apero and brunch with a view’, a ‘magical viewing game’, stargazing through the Urania observatory and winter bar Bar Den. The popular Christmas market will be located between the two squares.
On Thursday, December 16, 8 museums will exceptionally open their doors in the evening, from 5 to 10 p.m. In addition to the permanent collections and current exhibitions, there are dance performances, music performances, reading sessions and guided tours. On New Year’s Eve, revelers can take a seat at their favorite spot along or with a view of the Scheldt for the New Year’s fireworks. On Sunday 9 January, all Antwerp residents are welcome from 12 noon to end the year-end period with a cozy get-together.
