Faced with a staff shortage, Annecy must reduce the reception hours of its nurseries
A choice had to be made. Either reduce the number of children accommodated in the 24 nurseries in the town, or change the working hours. The city of Annecy has opted for the second solution. Faced with recruitment (39 positions without problem) and numerous absences (66 malaldie stops on a little over 300 employees) “adjustments have recently been adopted” by the city of Annecy. In a press release, she indicates that this decision should make it possible to continue to welcome nearly “1000 young children while respecting the mandatory supervision rates, while waiting for recruitments to take place”.
Parents involved
Contacted by France Bleu Pays de Savoie, Christian Bovier, deputy mayor in charge of children, indicates that if this recruitment problem in the early childhood sector is national, it is in Haute-Savoie “amplified by the attractiveness of employment in Switzerland and in the private sectors”. So to overcome these shortcomings and in addition to schedule changes, Annecy also called on families by asking parents “who does not work not to bring their child to the nursery, as far as possible”. Poster campaigns are also organized in crèches in difficulty to facilitate mutual aid between parents. “I have adapted my schedules”, explains Jamel, father of a 2-year-old boy. “I understand the difficulties but this should not last.”
The city of Annecy has launched a recruitment campaign for certified professionals:
- Early Childhood Educators
- Childcare auxiliaries
- Early Childhood Assistants
- Versatile maintenance workers
