Antwerp fashion at its best during festival A/deel: “Exubera… (Antwerp)
During the shopping festival A/part, you will discover twenty items created from creative collaboration in special Antwerp shops. The opening party took place last night and during a late night shopping you could discover the whole series from the makers yesterday. Designer Walter Van Beirendonck and musician Tamino are already present.
Ellen Bogaert
The curator on duty is the Belgian artist and musician Baloji. For A/part, he brought together established and emerging talent from the fashion, art, music, film and retail sectors and let them create unique, marketable developments together.
“For me, Antwerp fashion is an extension of Flemish painting. Antwerp fashion is exuberant, independent and creative. It was very nice to work with all these free souls. The melting pot of talent from all creative disciplines and the collaboration with the stores made it all the more exciting”, he was enthusiastic.
Veerle Baetens
Some well-known names were already known in the line-up. For example, actress Veerle Baetens designed a colorful jacket together with the emerging brand, Jill Antwerp. Fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck found and reconnected with photographer Mous Lamrabat and scarves, skateboards and … air fresheners. Raf Simons made porcelain dinnerware together with Pieter.
Alderman Koen Kennis showed himself during the image through the Antwerp district of Paul Cordy. He especially praised the unique cross-pollination between Antwerp shopkeepers and creative talent. Cordy: “With 23,000 visitors, the ModeMuseum did not miss its restart this autumn. The Antwerp mode is going well. And if Antwerp fashion is doing well, Antwerp is doing well.”
The fashion festival A/part is part of ‘Mode 2.021 Antwerp – Mode/Conscious’, the program that heralded the reopening of the Antwerp Fashion Museum this autumn. You can still visit the twenty stores until 20 November. There are pieces for every taste and budget. You can discover all the addresses on the MoMu website.
