The gala evening of the 11th year of the competitive international film festival 48 Hour Film Project Prague will take place in Prague over the weekend
48 Hour Film Project Prague is a follow-up project to the world-famous 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP), which brings together film festivals taking place under this name in about 130 cities around the world. Every year, up to 5,000 film teams take part in the festival, competing to see which one will make the best short film in 48 hours.
“The Cannes Film Festival was also a big event for the Czech Republic this year. In its Short Film Corner, viewers could see 3 Czech films this year, “ recalls the historically greatest success of this project by co-producer Radka Beránková.
In Prague, 27 film teams signed up for the project this year, which met at the Rock Café club in Prague on Friday 15 October at 7 pm to learn the specific parameters (sentence, prop, name and profession of the main character) that they have to discover their film and draw the genre of the film he was to shoot in the next 48 hours. On Sunday, October 17, no later than 7.30 pm, the filmmakers had to hand in an imaginary place for the same, a finished film made and edited. Because five teams did not deliver the film in time, 22 films are included in the competition.
“It’s dramatic for filmmakers and for us as producers. They preferred to have all the competitors meet the deadline, but the rules are clear and uncompromising. “ says producer 48 Hour Film Project Prague David JV Schöbl.
Not only the public, but also all competitors, partners or a jury from a number of Czech personalities and experts will be able to see all the competition films at the gala evening, which is being produced on November 7 at the Aero cinema. The winning film of the Prague Festival will represent Prague and the Czech Republic at the World Film Festival in the USA. He thus advances to the finals of the competition for the 12 best films in the world, exclusively screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, up to the main prize of $ 5,000. Tickets for the gala evening can be purchased in the pre-sale network smsticket.cz.
