1.11. – The largest German holiday air carrier Eurowings is now cooperating with the Czech company Smartwings. Both airlines have concluded an agreement on codesharing – cooperation in offering customers’ flights. Selected Eurowings connections from the new base in Prague will also be offered by Smartwings under its numbers, selling them on smartwings.com and through its other sales channels. Smartwings customers will thus benefit from the growing number of direct connections that Eurowings, a member of the Lufthansa Group, will offer from the Czech capital. Thus, a number of direct connections to attractive destinations in Europe, which Prague lost during the coronavirus crisis, are being successfully renewed.
“We are pleased with the cooperation agreement with partner Smartwings, which will strengthen our position at the new Prague base. Our activity in the highly attractive European metropolis will offer an even greater number of connections between business and leisure travelers with an interesting direct service throughout Europe, ”said Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof.
“Our long-term priority is to expand the range of destinations and, thanks to a new partnership with Eurowings, will offer our customers a convenient connection to a wide portfolio of destinations,” said Roman Vik, Member of the Board and CEO of Smartwings.
The first codeshare flights from Prague will start just a few weeks after the start of Eurowings operations in the “hundred-towered city”. By opening a base in the Czech capital, Eurowings has expanded its services in Central Europe. From 31 October 2021, they connected Prague with 14 new European destinations. By the summer of 2022, this airline belonging to the Lufthansa group will place three Airbus A320 aircraft in the Czech capital, including local crews. The flights are operated by Eurowings Europe, the pan-European Eurowings flight operator.
