Portugal will record temperatures below zero degrees – and it may even snow
From Tuesday to Wednesday night, a few high hours of snowfall, according to IPMA.
The rain that hit the country hard last week will give way to cold. The days of heavy rain are coming to an end, but there are very low temperatures, which even stay below zero in several Portuguese locations.
Until now, the minimum temperatures were around, on average, between 17 and 20 degrees in most of the territory. To “TVI 24”, a spokesman for the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) said that, gradually, they will descend to between zero and 10 degrees, but in some highlands in the interior they will be negative.
“On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday there can even be snowfall above 1400 to 1600 meters”, presenting the same source to “TVI 24” on Sunday, October 31st.
The Civil Protection registered close to two thousand occurrences due to bad weather in recent days, mainly falling trees, flooding, clearing roads and falling structures. Lisbon and Coimbra were the most affected districts, followed by Porto, Aveiro and Viseu.
For next weekend, there is no forecast of rain.
