Corona situation in Denmark – Infection pressure in Denmark:
233 people were admitted to Danish hospital on Sunday with covid-19. That is 14 more than the day before, according to figures from Statens Serum Institut (SSI).
The last time the number was so high was March 1 this year. At that time, the number of inpatients was 243.
The Danish National Board of Health, corresponding to Norwegian FHI, estimates in a recent report that the number of inpatients with corona may increase to 250 – 300 in the coming weeks.
The same report shows a number of patients who do not want to pay an extra burden on the Danish healthcare system. However, this can quickly change if the number rises to close to 500.
Many reports of brain fog
– Can become critical
Professor at the University of Copenhagen, Camilla Foged, says that it is worrying that every day there is an increase of 10 to 20 new admissions. This means that the total number of inpatients will continue to increase, despite some being discharged.
– It can quickly develop into many. There are around 100 new ones every week, and if it continues to rise, we will soon end up with 500. It can become critical, says Foged to the news agency Ritzau according to Danish TV2.
The daily infection figures are updated every day at 14.00. On Sunday afternoon, 1,532 new infections were registered. This is on a par with the figures earlier the same week.
The most recorded cases last week were 1,871. There is the largest amount in a day since January this year.
On Sunday, a new death was also registered. A total of 2,714 people have lost their lives in Denmark since the pandemic broke out in early 2020.
The experts want action
Camilla Foged at the University of Copenhagen prefers that Danes reintroduce the corona passport. It will make it more noticeable for those who have not yet been vaccinated.
– The thing that has the greatest effect is to get vaccinated, she says.
The bailiff is thus one of several Danish experts who want to take action to gain control of the infection situation.
– We can get away with minor interventions, if we start immediately, says Viggo Andreasen, epidemiologist at the University of Roskilde to TV2.
– We are in a stadium where the epidemic is developing in the wrong direction, says professor of infectious disease medicine at the University of Aarhus.
As a result of the increased infection pressure, several test centers in Copenhagen were reopened this weekend. These were closed on October 8, when the authorities believed that there was control over the infection situation.
