In the exposition unit Water World and Monkey Islands, visitors can observe recently born cubs of squirrels. Kotulí group in the Prague Zoo now has fifteen members.
“An eight-year-old female Lilly gave birth to her cub a month ago and a seven-year-old Malá two weeks later, the father of the cubs is an eight-year-old male Manü. Already last year, three cubs were born to us in the new exhibition and they are increasingly trying to encourage their younger siblings to play, “says the head primate breeder Martin Vojáček.
The older young Lilly is already curiously looking around, and sometimes I try to touch the objects in the exhibition by touch.

For both, it is already their second offspring and they take good care of the young. In the meantime, they cling to their mothers’ backs and regularly climb on their bellies to drink breast milk. Together with the whole group of inhabitants, they also stay in the outdoor enclosure in the branches of mature mulberry.
“Kotulové communicate in a diverse range of vocal expressions, including a kind of bird chirping, so visitors will certainly not listen to them,” adds head breeder Martin Vojáček.
