São Brás de Alportel crowned new winners of the Portugal Cup of Enduro MTB
João Rodrigues and Maaris Meier, from the Maiatos team, were crowned winners of the Portugal Cup of Enduro BTT, after the dispute of the last scoring event, this Sunday, 31 October, in São Brás de Alportel.
The last rides took place in S. Brás de Alportel and the men of the home team were the strongest this Sunday. Guilherme Jesus (MCF / XDream / Municipality of S. Brás de Alportel) won three of the four special qualifying courses and won the Algarve stage of the Cup, with a time of 17 minutes 33 seconds and 705 thousandths.
Briton Brett Wheeler, also from the Sambrasense team, was second, at 23,267 seconds. João Rodrigues was ranked third, at 50,887 seconds. This result guaranteed the cyclist from Guarda the conquest of the Cup of Portugal.
The dispute in the women’s sector was marked by a triumph across the line of the Estonian Maaris Meier, who won the Cup, winning a race this Sunday. The fight for victory in S. Brás de Alportel was intense and balanced between Maaris Meier and Swiss Anja Hovorka (Kraftwerk / Rockthisbike.ch).
The Maiatos cyclist was the best, with 21 minutes 02 seconds and 690 thousandths, beating the Helvetica by 938 thousandths of a second. Irishwoman Sophie Bagnall (AC Gravity) closed the day’s podium, a 9125 seconds off the winner.
André Fernandes (Caniço Drivers) won today among the juniors and also celebrated the conquest of the Portuguese Cup in this category. Among the cadets, the winner of the Algarve race by Rodrigo Araújo (BTT Club de Matosinhos), but it was another runner from the Matosinhense formation, Marco Fernandes, who took the general team home.
Rúben Martins (Clube ANA Faro) won in the last race, but an overall victory belonged to Gonçalo Gaspar (BTT Enduro Terras de Bouro). In masters 40 there were also two winners this Sunday. Nuno Nóbrega (Belmira Cruz / Centro Ciclismo Portimão) triumphed in the stage and Bruno Marinho (BTT Enduro Terras de Bouro) won in the general classification.
The same scenario scored in 50 mestres, partial victory for Leonel Bento (Casa do Povo de Abrunheira) and absolute victory for João Gonçalves (Belmira Cruz / Centro Ciclismo Portimão). Among the veterans, Bianca Oliveira (Cavaleiros do Caniço) won a Cup by winning all the competitions she participated in and today was no exception.
Miguel Pardal (goRide Portugal) won, this Sunday, a race of electric assistance bicycles. But Pedro Cândido (Movefree / ONfm / Torres Vedras City Council) defended the overall top in the best possible way with second place in São Brás de Alportel.
Today there were no women in the federated electric assistance bicycle race, so Ana Lopes (BTT Enduro Terras de Bouro) took the Cup without needing to run, the same happening with master 60 Carlos Marques (União Desportiva Lorvanense).
Not counting the Cup of Portugal, today’s race was open to the participation of juveniles and children, running a cyclist from each of these categories, the juvenile Tiago Patrocínio (Joaquim Agostinho School / UDO) and the children’s Francisco Ferreira (Caniço Riders ) .
The BTT Enduro Terras de Bouro was the best team this Sunday and in the Portuguese Cup as a whole.
