The President recalled that Russia became the first country in the world to register a new drug Sputnik V against COVID-19. At the moment, it is known that the Russian vaccine was approved in 70 states by people “with a total population of over four billion.” In addition, the vaccine is safe and effective against infection, the Russian leader concluded.

At the G20 summit, which started in Rome earlier on Saturday, October 30, he also called unfair protectionism that a number of countries were not ready for mutual recognition of vaccines and vaccine certificates.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko recommended using the single-component vaccine “Sputnik Light” only for repeated vaccination. He linked the changes to the spread of the delta strain. At the same time, for the first vaccination, the Ministry of Health advised considering domestic vaccines, including Sputnik V.
