Such was the Apostol concert in the Budapest Sports Arena – with pictures
On Sunday evening, the Apostol concert, which had already been postponed twice due to the epidemic, was held at the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena.
There was a full house in the stadium, and in the seats we can see mainly the middle-aged and the elderly.
The show began with the playing of Iván Szenes’ former concert greeting. The first song – Wandering what is the way? – the leader of the ensemble, Zoltán Németh, sang. He conference the songs all evening and shared stories and knowledge about the life of the band with the audience, spiced with humor.
We could listen to the song that József Meződi had to sing to join the band in 1973: A Road I Have Not Been A Long Time Away. The singer’s voice resounded as it did at the time, his tenor not veiled, his organ captivating. Meződi is not the leader of the band, but his front man, face and person have been decisive in the success of the band for decades.
At the concert, the graphics, light games and films related to the songs on the stage’s three-part projector made the performance dynamic. On the stage, the Budafok Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra provided the usual sound, string and wind accompaniment of the Apostle songs. In the second half of the concert, the children’s choir of the Hunyadi János Music and Music Primary School made the songs more noticeable. The song entitled Flower of the Seven Colors was sung by the choir’s two soloists, Harmon Henrietta Luca and Noz Czigner together with József Meződi.
In the song Little Girl, Beware, we could also die the rap insert in a live performance. Happiness was performed only with the piano accompaniment of Zoltán Németh.
Viewers also got a taste of the new songs on the album for the 50th anniversary of the band Apostol. The audience expressed his liking at the composition of Poor Fool. The pandemic situation inspired a new song, The Flame of a Candle, which was particularly emotional. During the One Song, we could hear Ferenc Szabó’s drum soloist.
Zoltán Németh involved the audience in singing together several times, many times to the chorus of their new songs, the melody of which is catchy, and learning it is not too difficult for the music-loving audience.
József Meződi changed his beige dress to a red suit and performed the song The Single Heart, the lyrics of which were written by István Bella. In this song we could admire the special trombone playing of László Pete. Ferenc Muck played the saxophone in the song I will go up to you tonight.
There were no lesser hits in the endgame than I have no luck, I can’t live without you, For sale is my heart now, I should live smarter. The music parade was then shining even with stars closed. During the more than two hours of performance, we could hear 27 songs, which worthily covered the band’s success of more than 5 decades.
