The Fenix Toulouse finished too much reduced
plock 33 – toulouse 29
The European scene is demanding. Toulouse experienced it last night in Plock where the Poles of Wisla ended up winning after a meeting that Pierrick Chelle’s teammates ended up losing. Already deprived of their left-handers on the rear base (Ayed and Marmier were absent yesterday), they had to evolve with Gilbert and Feuchtmann on the post. With success at the start since Danijel Andjelkovic’s men are to come away (7-10, 16th) carried by a successful Vieira and a beaming Pettersson at the pivot.
But the Poles have perfectly negotiated the numerical superiorities to return to their height (14-14, 25th), before overtaking (19-17, 30th; 23-20, 37th).
Still in the game (25-24, 44th), the opposite events would end up upsetting the designs of Fenix. Vieira’s injury exit from the 40th, then the final exclusion of a strong link in the defense, Luka Sokolic (45th) will deal a blow to his collective. Quite the opposite of Wisla Plock carried the clairvoyance of center-half Zhitnikov (5 goals and 9 assists). “Him, he hurt us very badly in the second half,” admits Rémi Calvel, Fenix assistant coach. “We had a complicated final, with fewer rotations. Plock has a great team and we never found solutions to our numerical inferiorities that they were able to negotiate perfectly.”
After this second European failure in two days, the Toulousains must now plan on the championship and the reception of Saint-Raphaël, from Friday. This leaves little time for recovery and preparation for this deadline. The price to pay to evolve on the European scene …
