Toulouse. More than a ton of waste collected
More than a ton of waste was recently collected on the banks of the Garonne, by some 150 employees of KPMG, an international network of audit and consulting firms.
Like 10,000 other employees at 160 sites in France, they mobilized during their working hours as part of the MaDD (Make a Difference Day), a day of commitment to protecting the planet. Field of action which works all year round to clean the Garonne “it is our chance to recover the waste before the rising waters drag them towards the ocean” explains Cécile, the co-founder of the collective. Some of them, equipped with gloves, garbage bags and rubber boots, scoured the edges of the river between Île du Ramier and the Oncopole.
Among them, Emilie has already participated in 2019 in the cleaning of the Canal du Midi near Ramonville. It is particularly sensitive to the protection of the environment. “When I go for a walk with my children, we always have a bag to collect waste,” she says. For KPMG France, this operation is part of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach undertaken by the group for 5 years. “We have targeted actions like today’s, but also on a daily basis to control energy consumption, or carpooling for example,” said Christian Liberos, associate director. He adds that beyond the protection of the environment, the KPMG France Foundation also provides support to the non-profit sector in terms of education, in particular those in difficulty.
