PRAGUE

As part of the Merciful Summer, Prague will help thousands of debtors from foreclosures Company News Pražská Drbna

Sugar Mizzy October 26, 2021

Thanks to the Merciful Summer, thousands of people who have been executed due to unpaid fines or fees against the Prague City Hall, its city organizations and city districts will have the opportunity to pay a much smaller debt. The event starts on October 28 and the metropolis is also introducing a toll-free line where people can direct their questions.

It is the Merciful action that represents a great chance for many debtors to start again without debt, because many of them have recovered from past debts. The amount owed to them has increased many times due to high accessories and the costs of execution.

Prague is launching an extensive information event

“I very much welcome the law approved by Parliament, and on behalf of Prague, we want to do everything we can to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of this chance. In cooperation with People in Need and the Prague representative and MP Patrick Nacher, we are launching an extensive information event, “Said the councilor for legislation Hana Kordová Marvanová (TOP 09 and STAN – United Forces for Prague).

This event is to help people get out of execution not only against the state, but also against regions and municipalities. It therefore also applies to the Prague City Hall, city districts and city organizations. It will be sufficient for the debtors to pay only the principal of the debt, in other words it is the original unpaid amount plus the fee to the executor.

It will not be necessary to pay all sanctions, such as penalties or default interest

It will therefore not be necessary to pay all the penalties, interest on arrears, penalties and other costs that have accrued on the debt. As part of the Merciful Summer, these amounts, which often exceed the original debt many times over, will be forgiven.

“I am extremely glad that Prague is so actively involved in this event at my initiative. It can be seen that when a meaningful legal regulation is approved in the Chamber of Deputies, the applications in practice then help politicians, regardless of the division into opposition and coalition,“Said the deputy and the Prague representative Patrik Nacher (YES).

You will also take part in the event People in Need. “We very much appreciate the Prague initiative, which has decided to follow a number of other cities. At the same time, data from Czech Television show that the Prague Transport Company is leading executions from public institutions after VZP against the highest number of people,He said Daniel Hůle from the organization People in Need. He also added that he would like to appeal for executors hired by Prague companies to comply with the law.

“We see from practice that, for example, the executor Podkonický demands double costs from debtors. I advise borrowers not to pay him and contact our helpline. “ complements Hůle.

Sad statistics

Since 1993, the Prague transport company has registered 173 thousand executions. “We are aware of the huge opportunity for people with executions and should make the most of them. We are counting on an awareness campaign in vehicles and meters, so that information about the Merciful Summer will become among the most Praguers. At the same time, we will work with People in Need to prevent further debts, ” explains the square for the transport area Adam Scheinherr (Prague to Himself).

In the case of Prague, they most often relate to various unpaid fees, arrears for waste collection, fines for undeclared journeys or debts to the energy supplier or for renting in a municipal flat.

“A gracious summer of city organizations mainly concerns companies such as Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague, Prague Services, Pražská plynárenská Holding, Pražská energetika Holding or Trade Center Praha. It was its municipal companies in its resolution of 4 October 2021 that the City Council demanded. m of Prague to inform their customers, and therefore the debtors, about the possibilities of the Merciful Summer, “ reminds councilors of property Jan Chabr (TOP 09).

The metropolis also asks the city districts to join the Merciful Summer to inform each debtor about the possibility of debt relief. “In the city district of Prague 7, we want to identify families and seniors for whom it would be worthwhile to announce a public collection and thus buy them out of debt slavery. I offer this idea as inspiration for other cities and towns, ” said the mayor of Prague 7 Jan Čižinský (Prague 7 to Myself).

“The debt spiral bothers too many Czech households“

According to the mayor of Prague Zdenka Hriba (Pirates) are bothered by the debt spiral in too many Czech households, which as a result are outside the system.

“A gracious summer is an opportunity for them to reopen the door to a normal life. It is also an opportunity for our whole society to solve part of the problem that burdens public budgets. Therefore, Prague is happy to participate in the project, and now it is appropriate to invite Praguers who are affected by problems with execution to take advantage of this opportunity. “ added Hřib.

The whole event will start on Thursday, October 28, and end on January 28, 2022. The Prague City Hall is also launching a toll-free line to provide details for the public. 800 100 000 and together with People in Need, it also published an information leaflet.
