He has hit the headlines in recent days, estimating on the radio that “the police kill”, an exit which will earn him a complaint from the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin: Philippe Poutou, the leader of New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA) for the 2022 Presidential, will soon stop at Toulouse.
A national spokesperson from Toulouse
In his race for the Élysée, the candidate surrounded himself with a figure well known in the Pink City for his commitments within the militant sphere: Pauline Salingue. La Toulousaine was named national spokesperson of the Poutou 2022 campaign.
This trade unionist at the CGT, specialist educator at the CHU, had been head of the list of “Toulouse Anticapitalist” at the Municipal 2020 (1.52% of the vote), where she had also received the support of the same Philippe Poutou, before d ” be spokesperson and number 3 on the Occitanie Populaire list, triggered by the Insubordinate Myriam Martin at the Regional 2021 (5.06%). She also intends to take on a role of advisor in this campaign, and to give the candidate some “more specific insights on health-related issues”.
Two meetings in quick succession in Toulouse
The 2022 Presidential will be the third of its kind for Philippe Poutou, under the colors of the NPA, after those of 2012 (1.15%) and 2017 (1.09%). For this new attempt, his supporters are working locally to “participate in the collection of the 500 sponsorships of elected officials”.
The candidate will be himself Tuesday 23 November 2021 in Toulouse, for his first big public meetings after Paris. He will hold two meetings in the Pink City: the first at the Université Jean-Jaurès at noon, the second at the Salle Osète at 8 p.m. In the meantime, Pauline Salingue plans to meet with employees from struggling sectors.
Philippe Poutou, elected municipal councilor of Bordeaux
A long time worker at Ford in Blanquefort (Gironde), Philippe Poutou became known as an activist in the ranks of the CGT against the closure of its factory, which eventually took place, resulting in his dismissal, in 2019.
In 2020, Philippe Poutou hit hard at Municipal with its list “Bordeaux En Lutte”, supported by the NPA, La France insoumise and yellow vests. After collecting 11.77% of the vote in the first round, it peaked at 9.39% in the second, in a triangular won by the ecologist Pierre Hurmic. Philippe Poutou is now Bordeaux city councilor.
