“Tram on tire” between Lyon
Sytral is currently organizing a consultation on the high-level bus project between Part-Dieu and Sept Chemins. This “tram on tire” should see the light of day in 2026. A public meeting is organized this Monday evening in Villeurbanne.
In 2026, a high-level service bus line, called BHNS, will be launched in the Lyon metropolitan area. A line between Part-Dieu and the 7 paths, passing through Lyon 3e, Villeurbanne, Vaulx-en-Velin and Bron.
What is a BRT?
“The performance is equivalent to that of a tram“, specifies the Sytral.”The goal is really to build a tram line on tires“, insists Jean-Charles Kohlhaas, Deputy Vice-President of Sytral.
The commercial speed is equivalent or even superior to a tram (about 15-20km / h). The line is prioritized thanks to the priority of traffic lights and a reserved traffic lane. The cost is 120M euros. This line “will offer an efficient service to the east of Lyon while gaining in the appeasement of the territory thanks to the requalification of the embellishment of the crossed sectors“.
Two variants in the Part-Dieu district
A consultation began on Monday, October 11. It will last until November 19. In particular to decide between two possible variants in Lyon, in the Villette district at Part-Dieu, one variant goes through avenue Georges Pompidou, the other through avenue FĂ©lix Faure.
The line joins Part-Dieu and the 7 paths passing through Lyon 3e, Villeurbanne, Vaulx-en-Velin and Bron in 25 minutes.
This Monday evening, October 25, Sytral is organizing a municipal public meeting around the Part-Dieu – Sept Chemins BHNS project, dedicated to the Villeurbanne sector. From 19h. The meeting is face-to-face. And there are still places. At the conference room of the Palais du Travail, Place du Docteur Lazare Goujon, in Villeurbanne
