The fourth wave of coronavirus in Russia will decline by January. Such a forecast was given by the head of the laboratory for especially dangerous infections of the Center for Fundamental Translational Medicine, professor of virology Alexander Chepurnov and virologist, head of the laboratory of genomic engineering at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology Pavel Volchkov, informs Ura.ru.
“I think if you take a picture of the year that coincides. Some massive holidays, vacations, the introduction of quarantine measures, again, everything depends on each specific region, “- said Volchkov.
He added that the difference between last year’s and the current wave of COVID-19 is that there are several coronavirus vaccines in Russia now – then it was not.
According to virologist Chepurnov, an increase in the rate of vaccination and the formation of herd immunity may affect the epidemiological situation.
Earlier, immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov warned Russians about the protracted superwave of the coronavirus. This with this significant decrease in the incidence in the country does not occur. After the stabilization of the situation with COVID-19 in November, Russians will expect another rise in the incidence in January, and after that it is worth waiting for a “spring wave,” he said.
