People protested the behavior of the president’s office. The demonstration was peaceful
The organizer of the protest, Edita Šramotová, thanked all participants for their participation at the beginning of her speech and invited them to calm down. At the same time, those present demand that they refrain from their own appearance, vulgarity and violence. She did not forget to recall anti-epidemic measures such as safe spacing and covering by normal roads.
“I want to defend myself against deliberately false and offensive information to the public, which is released into the public space by the head of the office of the President of the Republic Vratislav Mynář and the director of the department and press spokesman of the President Jiří Ovčáček,” Šramotová introduces. This statement of the parties is accompanied by humming and whistling.
Šramotová also called on members of the Senate to take action. She supports the staff of the Central Military Hospital in Prague, where Zeman is hospitalized.
Many participants brought banners in protest. It said “Castle (from) counselors moving to Moscow”, then “Beware of bad faces from presidential offices” or “Deratization of the Castle is necessary”.
Department of Intensive Care Medicine
Zeman was transferred to ÚVN from Lány on Sunday afternoon. On the same day, the president’s doctor, Miroslav Zavoral, announced that Zeman had been taken to hospital due to complications that accompanied his chronic illness. He did not give the exact diagnosis because he did not have the patient’s consent. Zeman was transferred to the intensive care unit. A hospital spokeswoman told ČTK on Monday that Zeman’s condition had stabilized. More detailed information about the president’s state of health has not yet been published by the Castle office, which leads to a number of speculations and criticism from the ranks of public politicians.
President Zeman’s wife Ivana Zemanova said at a press briefing on Thursday that her husband is undergoing a time-consuming treatment. The media demand patience and the time needed to be able to gather strength.
Zeman Speaker Radek Vondráček (YES) visited Zeman in the hospital on Thursday, declaring that the President is able to hold office. The hospital subsequently objected to his visit, without the knowledge of the attending physician. Police have promised that next time the security will not release the head of state without the prior permission of the attending physician.
Senate President Miloš Vystrčil (ODS) on Tuesday asked the president’s office about the prognosis of Zeman’s health. He said on Friday that he still had not received an answer. Addressing Zeman’s associates, Vystrčil said that the president was not in good hands. Therefore, on behalf of the management of the upper chamber, the ÚVN sent a request concerning the prognosis of the development of the president’s health with regard to his ability to hold the office of head of state.
