New glass domes: look at the hitherto undiscovered caves in the Blansko region
In the Glass Dome site, they examined the upper floors near the Macocha abyss. After taking out dozens of buckets of rubble and clay, a big surprise awaited them.
“We examined the mentioned spaces after about thirty years. We need one promising place there that promised to continue. And indeed. Behind the corridor of about fifty meters, we managed to discover four large domes with beautiful stalactite decoration. We don’t have them named yet, only for work, “Michal Šenkýř told Deník on behalf of the speleological group based in Lipovec.

According to him, the stalactite decoration is intact in the domes also due to the fact that there is a forest on the surface above them. “No fields to plow or fertilize. Stalactites are so well preserved. This is a great discovery for us. We assume that the new premises have a continuation. We are constantly working on the site and mapping further, “added the speleologist.
The group also discovered unique spaces with rich stalactite decoration in the karst eight years ago. They named them after one of their colleagues, Matal’s Prayed. Rubble and soil dug into it for a year and a half. Another discovery was the Elven House cave above the Catherine’s Cave.
Some time ago, speleologists from the Myotis group from Vilémovice in the Blansko region were also successful. After two years of hard work, after clearing mud, stones and draining the water, they pay tens of meters underground to find an extensive cave system. Also with intact stalactite decoration. “Very few caves are known on the Harbeš plateau near Vilémovice. In addition to the speleological point of view, the discovery is also interesting in terms of biology. The cave is at a carefully shallow depth below the surface and its research will certainly be beneficial in the future, “commented Antonín Tůma from the Administration of the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area at the time.
