Cortina Asiago and Renon win, first points of Vienna.
SEVEN CHALLENGES BETWEEN THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: 06.10.2021
Six matches were scheduled for the classic Thursday in the Alps. The challenges highlighted the good state of form of the Italian teams who, with Renon, Asiago and Cortina, showed impressive performances. Among the results of the evening, the victory of the Vienna Capitals is surprising, the first of the season, born moreover from three scores of the young Austrian striker Maxmilian Maxa.

The match between the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the young men from Linz – also in this edition – was a challenge without history. Two double goals each, by Luca Auer and Joseph Eham opened the doors to the fifth victory of the Salzburgers on as many challenges in AHL. For the record, the remaining three creations were signed by Daniel Pronin, Philipp Krening and Maximilian Hengelmüller. With the three points won tonight, the team coached by Teemu Levijoki rises to 14 points in the overall standings.

A “Hat-trick” by 22-year-old Alexander Maxa, a real product of the Vienna Capitals youth sector, allows the team in the yellow-black jersey to overturn the result and win the first AHL challenge this season. The three signings of the quick Austrian striker took place in as many, but different, game situations. The first matured in “Power Play” (with the Carinthian Valentin Hammerle in a cage punished); the second in “short hand”, that is with his training in numerical inferiority (Martin Kosnar in the penalty bench); and the third in Empty Net, that is with the door of the Red Jackets unguarded, to have Coach Kirk Furey removed the goalkeeper to insert an “extra-player”, in order to try to find the result.

The Lustenau wins, thanking the fact that they have “a Remy Giftopoulus in the engine”. The former Cortina striker has in fact scored twice during the match confirming that he is an incredible sniper.

The Cortina interrupted the negative streak of four consecutive home losses and went on to win a match, considered, on the eve, rather “edgy”, on the ice of Merano. The victory of the boys of Coach Ivo Machacka “speaks Cortinese” as all the scores bear the signatures of players with Ampezzo origins. Ronny De Zanna, Michael and Luca Zanatta, Riccardo Lacedelli and Andreas Moser, seal the result, giving a smile to the formation of President Silvio Bernardi.

Asiago recovers the defeat on Tuesday evening and rules fairly quietly, Gherdeina, in the match, at home. The yellow-red lions take advantage of the excellent offensive preparation of Stefano Giliati, author, tonight, of two scores. The third goal of the Italian champions was scored by Steven Jacobellis. At the end of the game, Daniel Mantenuto, with an empty net, scores the 4-1 goal. The only goal for the Val Gardena, bears the signature of Korhonen.
