Baseball players Amsterdam Pirates improved at national championship
The baseball-players of Amsterdam Pirates also won the second game in the Holland Series. At the Loek Loevendie Ballpark, Neptunus was defeated 3-1. “We played a game and won solidly,” said Amsterdam coach Michael Duursma after the game.
Because of the win, the team from Amsterdam now leads the best-of-seven series 2-0.

Pitcher Juan Carlos Sulbaran continued to play a fine game, staying on the mound all nine innings. “Juan Carlo played very well. He was supported by a very good defense, but “JC” was dominating,” said Duursma.
At Neptunus, starting pitcher Diegomar Markwell was taken off after three innings. This was to the dismay of Markwell, who went on a rampage in the dug-out towards Neptunus coach Ronald Jaarsma.
Chances of winning?
In the first inning, Pirates trailed 1-0. The Amsterdam-squad came alongside on a homerun by Gilmer Lampe in the third inning. Denzel Richardson and Raydley Legito also managed to reach home plate in the remainder of the game. “We have not had to use a reliever yet. We are in good shape in that regard, but we look at it per game”, says Duursma.
Saturday is the third game in Rotterdam.
