Prague will compete for the final of the Conference League. What are her opponents like?
In 2023, the finals could take place in Prague, specifically in Eden, where Slavia plays its home matches. In addition to the city of the Czech Republic, five other countries are applying for the organization of the capital. These are Israel, Cyprus, Greece, Northern Ireland and Slovakia. Prague already has experience with the organization of major football events, when the UEFA Super Cup took place here in 2013 and the European Under-21 Championship two years later.
But getting organizers for this prestigious event will not be easy for Prague. The chairman of the FACR, Petr Fousek, is also aware of this. “Efforts will be needed to get Prague to host. But we have another important dimension at UEFA, and that is Prague and our Czech hospitality. Whether it was the UEFA Super Cup or the European Under-21 Championship, we did very well in terms of organization. In addition, Prague has as much as possible, in all aspects that accompany football. It’s our advantage. “ says the most recently elected most powerful man in Czech football.
FACR Secretary General Michal Valtr also believes that they will be able to build on the successful organization of 2013 and 2015. “We will create a team that offers an offer. Based on experience, I believe we have a great chance of success. We will make sure that the last all match is played in Prague in Eden.”
The conference league is a newly created competition, which is being played for the very first time in the current one. Now the Czech football team is represented in it by the teams Slavia and Jablonec, which after two matches scored one win and one defeat. The final will take place next year in Tirana, Albania.
But Prague now has a tarnished reputation for alleged racist fan behavior in the stands. But Sparta spokesman Ondřej Kasík denies this.
