EastRussia Bulletin: Russia has increased the supply of electricity to China – EastRussia
Since October, Russia has tripled the supply of electricity to China via the 500 kW power transmission line Amurskaya – Heihe (from 5 to 16 hours a day). The increase is due to the energy deficit in the PRC, according to the current issue of the EastRussia bulletin.
Energy is supplied to the three northeastern provinces of the PRC – Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Jilin. Earlier, the Chinese government turned to Inter RAO with a request to increase supplies in connection with the energy shortage resulting from a reduction in coal for thermal power plants, a reduction in cargo consumption at land border crossings due to the pandemic). At the same time, in January-August alone, the demand for electricity in China increased by 13.8%, to 5.5 trillion kWh.
Currently, in the PRC from the Amur region under a long-term contract of about 3 billion kWh per year. There is a technical possibility of supplying 6-7 billion kWh per year, which is not enough for the full consumption of the PRC.
