James Bond and the Triumph Stag: Heibel in Amsterdam
In No Time To Die, James Bond also traditionally blasts over the canvas in an Aston Martin. You would almost forget that our film hero has also driven something different, such as in 1971, when he went on a crook hunt in Amsterdam with a Triumph Stag. Sandor van Es and Maurice Volmeyer go in search of his tracks.
Car enthusiasts will get their money’s worth again with the latest James Bond movie. Especially if you like English sports cars it is a feast, never before has there been such an extensive line-up with Aston Martins. In addition to the traditional DB5 – destroyed in Skyfall, refurbished and gifted to Bond in Specter – a classic V8 Vantage and current DBS Superleggera plus Valhalla make an appearance. A nice advertisement. Even so, the Aston Martins overdose does not erase the examined palette of other former Bond cars from our memory. luckily, we want to add. For example, we remember tasty scenes with appealing models such as the Lotus Esprit (in The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only) and the BMW Z8 (in The World Is Not Enough), even if that was a mock-up. The Toyota 2000GT from You Only Live Twice is also clearly in our minds. The roof of the Japanese sports coupe was sawn especially for Sean Connery, otherwise the tall Scot would not fit in it.

For this story, we’re targeting the Triumph Stag. The fact that this one is less high on the various lists of favorite Bond machines is because there are no wild chases with it. That probably makes it even less ‘callable’ than the Citroën 2CV (For Your Eyes Only) and Renault 11 (A View to Kill), with a corny Roger Moore playing some crazy caperioles.
In addition, Diamonds Are Forever, in which the Stag makes an appearance, is not the most memorable episode of the illustrious franchise. At least, from a cinematic perspective. However, if you put on orange glasses, there is at least ten minutes to enjoy. In the long series of twenty-five films, Diamonds Are Forever is the only one in which 007 visits our country. In a scenario that takes place almost entirely in Las Vegas, the Amsterdam canals can even be called an exotic trip.
