It is now part of our daily life. In a few months, the mask has established itself as an essential accessory to continue to have a “normal” social life. Some large clothing brands have also felt the thread and now offer masks at the forefront of fashion, matching the clothes, for a total look.
A trivialization that should almost forget its essential role in the fight against Covid-19. And yes, if today in France the authorities are focusing on the vaccination campaign, barrier gestures, including wearing a mask, remain essential to counter the epidemic, especially in closed places.
BioX®, a revolutionary mask
It is with this certainty that the company Paul Boyé Technologies launched this Wednesday 22 September 2021 the marketing of its revolutionary mask virus killer. Called BioX®, the latter completes the range of respiratory protection already developed by this Toulouse-based company, which has an industrial site and a logistics site of 20,000 m2, a Labarthe-sur-Lèze, near Muret (Haute-Garonne).
In concrete terms, how does that work ?
This mask kills the virus on contact. It is not only a barrier, it destroys the virus. The cell membrane of the virus is broken by the active principle (cell lysis) resulting in the final destruction of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its variants. “
Over 99% viral reduction after 1 hour
Interviewed last January by the editorial staff ofToulouse news, the director of Paul Boyé Technologies explained at the time that, unlike traditional protective masks, which “block the virus”, this new disposable mask kills the virus thanks to a treatment integrated into the material.
The mask does not change, it is the same, but we apply a treatment to it to self-decontaminate. It demonstrated over 99% viral reduction of SARS-Cov-2 after 1 hour. “
FFP2 masks and surgical masks
The company offers two BioX ranges: FFP2 filter masks which can be worn for 8 hours and surgical masks, pendant 4 hours. For the former, count 59 € for the box of 50, i.e. € 1.18 per unit and 18 € for the box of 50, i.e. € 0.36 per unit for the seconds.
Made in 100% in Labarthe-sur-Lèze, the product is available on simple order on the online sales site by Paul Boyé Technologies. The company also specifies that these masks “are currently offered to the authorities (Public Health France). They are therefore accessible to central players: hospitals, clinics, groups of doctors, nursing staff, pharmacists ”.
10 million euros of investment
And that the most skeptical be reassured, this marketing comes after long years of research. The BioX® research project was launched in 2010.
“It was then anthrax that was targeted at the time,” explains the Toulouse company. It was industrially validated and approved in 2017 with the obtaining of theCE type certificate. Paul Boyé Technologies relaunched tests for the coronavirus in 2020, when the virus appeared, for a total investment of around 10 million euros.
