Trains from Smíchov to Běchovice will run according to plans in three years
This follows from a document published in the EIA information system. “We are counting on the introduction of new lines from schedule 2024/2025,” confirmed Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor for Transport. Prague representatives have previously approved a subsidy for the city district to prepare documentation.
The stops are to be built on a double-track line, where passenger trains do not yet run, they use it, with a few exceptions, when only freight carriers divert.
“With its management towards the city center, the line does not have great potential for radial connections of suburban railways; on the contrary, it has great potential for urban transport, where travel times can be attractive,” states a document prepared by Sudop Prague. In the future, two lines S61 from Smíchov to Běchovice and S71 from Radotín to Běchovice should run on the line. They would also serve the planned Depo Hostivař stop.
The stops are to grow on a total of 6.6 kilometers long section. Each stop should have a 100 meter long platform, the track itself will be minimally affected: the cables of the dividing equipment will be laid. “The intention is to improve the service of the site and at the same time increase its attractiveness,” the plan says.
Prague has already announced a public tender for the line operator, the deadline for submitting bids was in July.
