A small plane crashed into a field near Žilina in the Kladno region. Two people died
“Twenty minutes after 2 pm, we received an announcement of the crash of a small aircraft, an ultralight, into an uninhabited part near the village of Žilina,” said Lucie Nováková, a spokeswoman for the Central Bohemian police, to iDNES.cz.
“There were two dead on the scene. There were no rescue work, unfortunately it was only a rescue and declaration of death, “confirmed rescue spokeswoman Petra Homolová, stating that it was a Cessna aircraft.
On Twitter, the rescuers added that three ground crews were driving to the place and a rescue helicopter had taken off. Firefighters prevented the leakage of operating fluids from the machines and helped the towing service with the loading of the wreckage.
The Cessna took off from the sports airport in Velká Dobrá. The Institute for Professional Insurance of the Causes of Air Accidents will find out why it fell near the place of take-off.
The accident near Kladno is this year’s third plane crash with two victims in the Czech Republic. Last week, a small motor plane crashed at Most’s Braňany Airport. Two people died on the spot, one adult and one minor. In March, a smaller helicopter crashed between Dobřichovice and Karlík near Prague, and two older men died in the accident. The machine fell on the field from a height of about 90 meters.
While ten people have died in the accident in the Czech Republic this year, last year air traffic was significantly affected by the coronavirus epidemic, six victims (including one parachutist). According to the Institute for Professional Investigation of the Causes of Aircraft Accidents, 12 people died in 2019, in 2018 there were 11 victims, a year earlier seven and in 2016 even 18.
