Are you left with old, cheaper tickets? The transport company buys
In Central Bohemia, this will most often be solved by people who sometimes come to Prague – but again so often that it pays to get a prepaid coupon for traveling around the capital or to penetrate the secrets of payment via the PID Lítačka mobile application. Especially when in the capital they can often continue by public transport with a ticket bought on the bus or train.
By the way: PID tickets can now also be purchased directly on trains: from guides. Until now, they only recognized them, but sold travel documents only within the tariffs of specific carriers.
Bigger stock, bigger problem
The “remaining” paper tickets for an individual journey, ie those with an earlier price purchased in stock before 1 August, can be returned by passengers who did not use it. For a smaller number of tickets, people get money more easily than for a larger one – at least if they hurry. Up to five pieces from one nominal value (for the same price) can be returned to the points of sale of Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague in 30 metro stations; these are points of sale, not information centers.
You can also visit the Central Dispatch Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague not far from the metro and tram station IP Pavlova, to the address Na Bojišti 1452/5. It is the same place where black passengers caught by the auditor go to pay fines. Only there is also possible to return higher numbers of tickets with earlier prices.

From the beginning of September, this will be the only place where it will be possible to return now invalid tickets. And those interested will no longer have to hurry: they have time for that until the end of January.
Significantly less often, there is a situation where passengers are left with tickets for a single trip, which were purchased in advance through the mobile application PID Lítačka. You can also return, also until January 31. In this case, it is possible to request a refund via the e-mail address [email protected]. So one would be wrong to assume that electronic systems provide some form of compensation automatically.
The price review will be more frequent
The increase in PID fares, approved by Central Bohemian representatives and Prague councilors, came after ten years when prices have not changed. In the future, the review of prices for the use of public transport is expected more frequently. Currently, they have grown by about a quarter. Prepaid time coupons also became more expensive in Central Bohemia; in the capital, their price has not changed.
