Half of the increase in coronavirus cases was recorded in Prague and the surrounding area
While the metropolis (which is a very popular place in the Central Bohemian region for entertainment not only among young people in the 16-20 age group, in which the number of cases is most significant) decreased compared to last week, the first Saturday in July brought 56 new cases in Prague , in the Central Bohemian area, the development was the opposite: an increase. A comparison of successive Saturdays shows a clear increase from 19 people on 3 August to the current 38.
In Central Bohemia, the number of new cases jumped significantly on Wednesday; after public holidays. The same applies to the capital – but the increased values were “noticeable” in the national comparison in previous days. From Wednesday, it can be observed that the wider metropolitan area, ie Prague plus the Central Bohemian Region, accounts for about a third of the total number of new cases. That changed on Saturday: the current total of 83 represents more than half of the total 159 new cases recorded within the country. By the way – a total of 39,303 antigen tests were performed with immediate evaluation and another 25,189 with laboratory analysis by PCR.
According to the recalculation of newly proven cases in the last seven days per hundred thousand inhabitants, the least favorable situation remains in Prague – it reaches the value of 35.6. This is followed by the Plzeňský (26.6) and Středočeský regions – with a conversion of 16.8. On the contrary, the Karlovarský (3.1) and Ústecký and Zlínský regions are the most favorable (both 4.3).
Regarding vaccinations, the ministry recorded 2,121 doses of vaccine administered in Central Bohemia on Saturday – and even 10,956 in Prague. From Monday, those interested in vaccinations will have a new opportunity in Prague – but also in Central Bohemia: at the main railway station in the shopping center in Chodov, vaccinations will start operating, where it will be possible to come for the vaccine without a prior reservation date.
