The transformation of the Vysočina railway station has progressed. The old passenger building is over, demolition awaits
The dispatch buildings will be replaced by a new check-in hall.
After 150 years, the dispatch building of the local railway station has definitely stopped serving passengers in Prague – Vysočany. The railway administration closed it on Saturday and will go to the country during April.
For passengers, this means from yesterday that they have to board trains on the newly built makeshift platforms, to which a new approach has been built up a makeshift staircase west of the original entrance. “There are also temporary shelters, benches, a ČD ticket office and PID and Arriva trainers., “Said the Prague public transport organizer Ropid on his Facebook profile.
The railway administration is preparing a new, barrier-free station building on the spot. “From the original building, we will keep the markings of the platforms and historical inscriptions reminiscent of the then railway owners of the common contact station. After the construction is completed, we will place the inscriptions in a new station building or underpass as a historical artifact,“Said the Railway Administration.
15 kilometers of modifications, new stop
In Vysočany, there is a historic station building in the middle between two original lines. The project envisages a change in the configuration of the track, a total of two island and one external platform will be created here. Passengers can reach them thanks to a combination of fixed stairs, escalators and elevators. In addition, the platforms will be connected by another underpass from Krátkého Street and the Dohalský Brothers. A new check-in hall will be created in the extended underpass from Paříkova Street.
Modifications to the Vysočany railway station are part of an extensive investment project to speed up the line from Vysočany to Mstětice. The event, worth more than four billion, started last June. Thanks to this construction, part of the line from Prague to Hradec Králové will have the new parameters of the corridor. In addition to the acceleration and reconstruction of the Vysočany railway station, a new Rajská zahrada stop will be created, which will be connected to the metro.
The contract for 4,198 billion was won by the association Mstětice – Vysočany, which is run by Subterra. Other members are OHL ŽS, Eurovia and EŽ Praha. In the end, the contract will cost the Railway Administration half a billion more than the estimated price. The action starts with a slight delay, the appeal against the building permit was pending.
The section, which is almost 15 kilometers long, will undergo reconstruction. The current maximum line speed of 100 km / h will increase to 160 km / h after the installation of ETCS.
