The court opened the case of the death of a police officer in a swept car, the defendant did not come
The case was opened by the Senate of the District Court for Prague 4. The public prosecutor blames 39-year-old Mercedes driver Jitka Rudovič for negligent death, negligent bodily injury, serious negligent bodily harm and threats under the influence of addictive substances. Defendants face up to eight years behind bars.
The victims’ representatives demand payment of compensation in the amount of approximately three million crowns.
The defendant, detained immediately after the accident last July 5, inhaled over two per mille of alcohol at the crime scene. Her gambling began a short distance away on one of the streets in Nusle, where she damaged a parked Opel Corsa.
“She did not adjust her speed, she drove up to 150 kilometers per hour on a section with a permitted speed of 80 kilometers per hour. When crossing from the left lane to the middle, the front of her car crashed into the rear of a company car of the Czech Police, which was bounced into barriers, “the public prosecutor described the critical moments.
Mercedes catapulted a patrol car from Ostrava police officers who had returned from a business trip to the side of the road, from where it bounced off and then reported. The passenger, who was sitting in the back seat, suffered severe injuries to his brain, chest and many other organs. The 33-year-old police officer soon succumbed to the serious injuries.
The Octavia driver escaped the collision with, among other things, concussion, a shattering fracture and other health complications. The co-driver in the right front seat ended up in medical care with a concussion and numerous bruises.
The now accused driver, who escaped unharmed, was detained by police at the scene of the fatal accident. After a series of breath tests, biological expertise showed 1.58 per mille of alcohol in her blood about three hours after the fatal clash.
Was it a chase with her husband?
It is not clear why the accused rushed down the street on May 5 at a speed suitable for the race track. According to his lawyer, Rudovič is hospitalized in poor condition, and her interrogations will not take place until about March.
The basic description of the case was not disputed by the defendant’s lawyer after reading the indictment. “However, I cannot express whether the client remembers the events in question or not. We have doubts about that unfortunate death. That will be the subject of proof, “said Blend lawyer Raji.
Thus, in the next part of the trial, the court could address the questions of whether the killed police officer was fastened with a seat belt at the time of the collision, or whether the defendant was engaged in a car chase with her husband at that moment.
“Compensation is partially paid,” said the defendant’s lawyer.
In addition to the defendant, the President of the Senate wants to hear a number of experts and witnesses in March. The verdict could fall in the middle of that month.
