Viktor Pivovarov / Moscow Gothic National Gallery – Trade Fair Palace
The National Gallery in Prague will present a large retrospective exhibition of painter and illustrator Viktor Pivovarov. The exhibition shows his rich career in full breadth, from his early surrealist paintings created in part in the context of the unofficial art scene in Moscow in the 1970s; through more conceptual canvases and albums of drawings after he moved to Prague in 1982, to his captivating new works, which will be exhibited for the first time. The individual parts will examine a key series, often on whimsical or philosophical topics, which are accompanied by viewers of video and audio elements, which will draw Pivovar’s special world even deeper. This exhibition will also be a rare opportunity to see some of Pivovar’s most important paintings, which will be exclusively lent from the largest Russian museums.
