Czech Railways will “take out” the commuter train, and will run between Prague and Bohumín for maintenance
In the next two weeks, Czech Railways will replace the classic sets on EC 145/144 trains in the Prague – Bohumín section four times in total with pendolino units. The reason is the transport of these vehicles between the places of their regular maintenance, which is carried out at the Prague South parking station, and the place of their partial parking in Bohumín.
“The units will be transported on regular trains, as this is a more cost-effective option than moving them independently without passengers,” said rail spokesman Robert Pagan.
The planned extraordinary deployment of Pendolin will take place on the following dates and the following EuroCity connections:
– EC 145 on 6 January 2021 (unit 680.007)
– EC 144 on 7 January 2021 (unit 680.002)
– EC 145 on 13 January 2021 (unit 680.004)
– EC 144 on 14 January 2021 (unit 680.005)
Pendolins have been a rare phenomenon on Czech dormitories in recent months. The vast majority of the tracks disappeared on October 28, when the tracks ended their operation on the Prague – Bohumín route. They were left with only performances to Western Bohemia, where the units travel under a public service obligation, as well as Košice. On EC trains between Prague and Bohumín, the pendoline last “stretched” in mid-November.
Czech Railways has seven pendolino units. Their interior underwent modernization in 2017 and 2018. The Pendolino holds the Czech speed record when, in 2004, it developed a speed of 237 km / h on the corridor near Břeclav between Vranovice and Podivín.
Details on the operation of long-distance trains at the time of the covid plague are on the Czech Railways website.
